Our Journey.

How did this happen? I’m still asking myself this question.

“It started with a coffee table book called ‘Food In Jars’”

— Lisa, Palo Alto Weekly

December, 2014, while shopping for that one last stocking stuffer gift for Dulani, my husband, I spotted a coffee table book called "Food in Jars" at Whole Foods.

Perfect for him.

Back then, he’d been a baker, and was on his way to becoming a butcher; taking knife cutting and food safety courses, training; doing anything to keep himself around food.

During that following month, Dulani and that damn book turned our tiny kitchen into mayhem. Salts, herbs, bowls, pans….just crazy. The outcome? — Wild Rosemary, our Rosemary sea salt blend.

Creating blends (some of them so horrible that they had to be tossed out) and sharing them with friends and family led us to the bright idea that “this could actually be a business for us…”

This is Us

I’ve never been able to follow a recipe.

My mind doesn’t really work like that—it’s always on the move; thoughts and ideas flying by. That “all over the place” energy? That’s my blessing and my engine. It’s where the ideas come from and how the flavors are built.

By mixing, adjusting, and trying things that weren’t supposed to go together, I accidentally started building flavor profiles—layers that hit at different moments while you’re eating.

Where I’m instinctive and always creating, Dulani is the opposite.

He’s focused. Precise. Intentional.

He knows exactly what goes into his blends and why. His combinations are thoughtful in a way I’d never approach—but they work. Oh, my damn, they work. To experience the man’s genius, try his first rub, Brown Sugar Butcher’s Blend, and his newest rub Prime Reserve.

Together, we’re flavor obsessed.

We pull inspiration from everywhere—Our southern roots, Cajun and Creole, Mexican, French, Italian, and classic American cooking—building blends with ingredients like garlic, citrus, fennel, rosemary, chipotle, florals, and more.

And then there’s the butters. Because everything is better with butter, right?

Come share our obsession.
